2022 Election Results LIVE UPDATES: Anthony Albanese hits Russia and promises “more energy and resources” for Indo-Pacific at Quad 2022 meeting; Peter Dutton was expected to become the leader of the Liberal Party

As you can see in the election tracker at the top of this page, we have called for 75 seats for Labor, enough for a minority government.

If the party only wins one more seat, it will have a majority in the House of Representatives even after one of its deputies is appointed president.

At this stage, this seat 76 could be the Melbourne division of Macnamara (which encompasses suburbs such as St Kilda). Labor MP Josh Burns faced off in a three-round competition on Saturday with the Greens and Liberals.

As it stands today, Labor is ahead of the Greens in Macnamara by less than 2,000 votes in the primaries. The Liberal candidate came in third and most of the Liberal preferences seem to flow towards the Labor candidate. Still, it’s still a tight race, so Nine (and the ABC) haven’t called for a seat.

Another way for Labor to form a majority government, or even strengthen its position as a majority government, is in Brisbane. On election night, it looked like this seat could go from liberal to green. However, the Labor candidate has since outscored the Greens by about 100 votes.

Elsewhere, the Liberals have very narrow advantages in the outer suburbs of Melbourne, Deakin, and Gilmore on the south coast of NSW.

Take a look at this space.
