The Georgia Bureau of Investigation has released a surveillance video in search of those responsible for the explosion at the Georgia Guidestones Monument, which they now say has been completely demolished for “safety reasons.”
Alberton’s 19-foot-tall granite tourist attraction, which the state says is known as “Stonehenge of America,” was damaged early Wednesday after “unknown individuals detonated an explosive device.” , according to the agency.
“For security reasons, the structure has been completely demolished,” the Georgia Bureau of Investigation later said as it released videos showing the explosion and a silver car fleeing the site.
Georgia’s tourism website says the monument “displays a 10-part message advocating the conservation of humanity and future generations in 12 languages.”

The remaining part of the Georgia Guidestones monument has been destroyed for “security reasons,” officials say.
“The Guidestones also serve as an astronomical calendar, and every day at noon the sun shines through a narrow hole in the structure and illuminates the date of the day in an engraving,” he added.
The attraction gained renewed attention in May when Republican candidate for governor Kandiss Taylor claimed the stones were satanic and included destroying them as part of its platform, according to the Associated Press.

“God is God for himself. He can do anything He wants to do. That includes tearing down the satanic guidestones,” Taylor tweeted Wednesday.

As of Thursday, the motive for the blast, and who is responsible for the damage, was unclear immediately.
