San Diego Padres Jurickson Profar left the game Thursday after a hard collision with the San Francisco Giants that left him hospitalized.

The Fathers updated their condition on Friday, announcing that Profar suffered a concussion and a strain on his neck. He was discharged from the hospital overnight and is now resting, according to his parents. The team did not provide a forecast or schedule for his return.

The injury occurred on a ball in the left field of Giants designated hitter Tommy La Stella. Profar and the Padres ’shortstop, CJ Abrams, ran to get the ball, which caused Abrams to sink for a Profar at full speed while making the catch. The repetition showed Abrams’ knee making hard contact with Profar’s jaw.

The two players collapsed immediately after the collision. Abrams got up after a few seconds, but Profar held down and was in clear pain.

Profar stayed down for a while, but finally got up and tried to walk up to the dugout by his own power. After a few steps, however, he grimaced and fell again. A Padres coach had walked in front of him and ended up going down with him after failing to catch him.

The situation did not become less frightening or strange from here on out. Profar had an apparent head injury, but the Padres took more than five minutes to pull a cart from the moment of its second collapse, according to Evan Webeck of The Mercury News. More than 10 minutes passed since the moment of the collision.

Once Profar finally got into the car, he glanced at the crowd.

Padres replaced Profar on the field by placing José Azocar on the right field and displacing right fielder Nomar Mazara on the left. The team later announced that Profar had been transferred to UC San Diego Health for further evaluation.

Losing significant time would be a blow to the Fathers, who have baptized him at the helm since late May. He is hitting .242 / .343 / .397 with eight homers and 50 runs per season.
