The MacBook Air with Apple’s latest patented M2 processing chip is available for booking starting Friday. But as soon as the new laptop is available, it already faces shipping delays.
Customers can book the MacBook Air M2 through the Apple website or the Apple Store app. However, these order options already show shipping estimates beyond their July 15 global retail release date, with many configurations delayed for shipping until July 18 or later in the U.S., according to MacRumors .
It may not sound too bad, but MacRumors points out that some custom settings may have delayed shipping dates beyond July. This has been an ongoing issue with the MacBook Pro M1 Pro and M1 Max, which has faced many months of shipping delays.
The MacBook Air M2 was announced in early June in a range of colors and hardware specifications, with eight- and 10-core GPU options, and Midnight, Starlight, Space Gray, and Silver as color options. Apple is expected to have the standard M2 MacBook Air configurations available in the store when the laptop launches on July 15th.
The duration of the delay in shipping may also depend on where you place the order. Our location offers shipping dates between late July and mid-August for all MacBook Air M2 configurations. Several metropolitan areas may experience longer wait times for new laptops.
Reports that appeared in late May just before the presentation of the M2 MacBook Air at WWDC 2022 revealed that the M1 MacBook Air was among Apple’s easiest-to-buy computers for a time when several products were they faced massive shipping delays due to supply chain problems. According to Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman, products including the 2021 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models, the 2021 iMac, Apple Pro Display XDR, Mac Studio and Studio Display were also delayed until August.
It’s unclear whether the MacBook Air M2’s shipping delays have been caused by consumer demand or supply chain problems.
The MacBook Air M2 starts at $ 1,199, while the MacBook Air M1 is still available today and sells for $ 999.
