2 BC men arrested after the drug fell on Manitoba prison with a drone

Two Vancouver Metro men have been arrested in Manitoba after a package of drugs was dropped by a drone on the grounds of the Stony Mountain institution, the Manitoba RCMP reported.

On Sunday, at the RCMP in Stonewall, Man., He was told a drone was flying over and into Stony Mountain, north of Winnipeg. A suspicious vehicle was also reported on a side road near the institution, police said in a press release Friday.

Officers stopped the vehicle on Highway 7 near Highway 321, near Federal Prison.

They immediately noticed a drone in the back seat and arrested the two men in the vehicle.

After a search in the Stony Mountain area where the drone was landed, police also discovered a package containing methamphetamine and what is believed to be fentanyl.

Prison employees also reported that they had seen a drone and found a similar package the day before.

Also on Monday, a person living in the area where the traffic stop occurred occurred to police who had found a suspicious package. The RCMP says it was consistent with the other packages found in the prison over the previous two days.

The RCMP says methamphetamine and what is believed to be fentanyl were drowned in prison twice this month. More drugs were discovered in an Airbnb rental in Winnipeg. (Submitted by RCMP)

On Wednesday, Winnipeg police were called to an Airbnb on Stradbrook Avenue after the owner discovered a gun and drugs inside.

Police later determined the Airbnb was being rented out by the two men who had been arrested on Sunday and had not returned to rent after their arrest, police said.

The two men, about 20 years old, one from Vancouver and one from Burnaby, BC, face various charges, including two charges each of methamphetamine trafficking, possession of drugs for trafficking purposes and possession of property obtained by crime.

They also face charges for firearms and charges related to cocaine and methamphetamine possession.

The RCMP says there are more charges pending. The two men remain in custody.
