How will a new Conservative leader be elected?

It is up to Conservative MPs and then party members to determine a new Conservative leader, who will then be prime minister, as the party has a majority in the commons.
To participate in the race, a Conservative MP must be nominated by eight teammates.
Once all the candidates have been declared, the Conservative MPs will hold a series of votes until there are only two left. In the first round, candidates must get 5% of the vote to stay in the race, which is 18 votes.
In the second round they have to get 10%, which is currently 36 deputies. In the following rounds, the candidate with the lowest number of votes is eliminated until there are two candidates left.
When two deputies remain in the race, party members may make their final decision before a deadline set by the 1922 Committee.
In 2019, when Johnson replaced May, the entire leadership process lasted about six weeks.
Assuming the new leader was able to gain the confidence of the commons, they would not be forced to call a general election.
