Who made Wordle? Where did Wordle come from?
Wordle’s sudden explosion in late 2021 sparked a press conference centered on its creator. Former Reddit engineer Josh Wardle came up with the game in 2021 as a private exercise for him and his pun-loving partner. Eventually, it became a staple of his family’s WhatsApp messages, and that’s when Wardle began to suspect he might have something special enough to deserve a wider release. (So special, in fact, that the New York Times bought him in early 2022.)
Thousands of people around the world play this game every day and fans have even created alternatives Wordle inspired by the original format. What happened to the Wordle file?
One Wordle a day is fine, but sometimes it’s not enough. Although once the entire archive of past puzzles could be played, the archive was removed at the request of the New York Times, according to the site.

Is Wordle getting harder and harder?
If you’ve found Wordle too easy, there’s a hard mode you can turn on to give you more challenges. But unless you enable this mode, we can assure you that Wordle doesn’t get any harder. (This past week, roughly, has served some real doozies, though, so don’t stick around too much if you’ve broken the streak.)
Why are there two different Wordle answers some days?
Wordle’s goal is for everyone to solve the same puzzle, with the same answer, no matter where you are in the world. However, from time to time the puzzle game will accept two different correct solutions on the same day, in apparent defiance of Wordle’s law.
This aberration is due to changes the New York Times began making after acquiring Wordle earlier this year, removing dark or potentially sensitive words from the original list Wardle put together. To make sure you always have the same puzzle as everyone else, refresh your browser before you play; don’t worry, the site will remember your streak.
