(Pocket-lint) – Netflix has partnered with Sennheiser to offer a new space audio experience that works on all devices.
Thanks to Sennheiser technology, Netflix content with stereo audio will be enhanced with this new immersive surround sound. Sennheiser said the experience is compatible with all devices and all Netflix streaming plans. It does not require surround sound speakers or home theater equipment. The technology, called Ambeo 2-Channel Spatial Audio, works with standard stereo speakers.
Sennheiser said Ambeo aims to offer “an enhanced audio experience wherever current stereo is offered, be it standard TVs, stereo systems, headphones, tablets or laptops.” Several Sennheiser partners have worked with the company to offer Ambeo, including Netflix. In fact, the first title Ambeo uses is the fourth season of Stranger Things.
If the audio output of your device is set to stereo audio, you do not need to adjust any settings to test Ambeo. It will be the default setting for two-channel settings for titles. (Just search for “space audio” in the Netflix search bar to find titles.) Therefore, Netflix subscribers who don’t have surround speakers or devices that support space audio will still see the space audio turned on automatically when they see a TV show or a compatible movie. . If you have devices that support space audio, such as AirPods, nothing will change.
