President Biden signed an executive order yesterday to bolster some abortion rights in the U.S., marking the White House’s first attempt to challenge the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade.
The Biden measure will not restore a woman’s right to termination in those states where it has become illegal or nearly impossible since the court’s decision. Instead, it will limit access to abortion drugs, making abortion pills “as accessible as possible.”
In his speech, Biden renewed his attack on the court and his decision. “This court has made it clear that it will not protect women’s rights. I will do. That is why today I sign an executive order to protect access to reproductive health care.
