Tornado clocks issued for parts of Manitoba

Environment Canada has issued tornado clocks for parts of Manitoba.

Heavy storms are expected to affect parts of midwest Manitoba during the afternoon.

“An unstable air mass is in place in front of a frontal system, providing a favorable environment for the development of severe storms that can produce tornadoes. With these storms large hail are also possible, up to a golf ball and strong gusts of wind, “ECCC said in a bulletin.

“This is a dangerous and life-threatening situation,” officials added.

Officials say you should take care immediately in case of bad weather.

“Go inside to a room on the lower floor, away from outside walls and windows, such as a basement, a bathroom, a staircase, or an interior closet. Leave mobile homes, vehicles, tents, trailers and other temporary or independent shelters and move to a strong building if you can, ”officials suggest.

Storms are also expected in much of southern Manitoba on Saturday and Sunday.
