Shaun Micallef has announced that he will stop hosting ABC’s feature film Mad As Hell, leaving one of the actors “heartbroken and anxious” for his future.
Shaun Micallef has announced that he will stop hosting ABC’s feature film Mad As Hell, leaving the show’s future in limbo.
The 59-year-old Australian comedian used Twitter to deny rumors that the show had been removed, but said it was “true” that it will not return next year.
“That’s entirely up to me, okay? After 11 years and 15 seasons, I felt it was time for someone younger to take advantage of the resources and opportunities on offer. I’ll be 60 in a week for shit.” , wrote Micallef.
The news has uncovered one of the show’s main cast members, Australian actor Tosh Greenslade, who posted a series of disturbing tweets saying he was “anxious” about his future after filming Micallef’s final season in September.
Greenslade, the father of one, wrote on social media that “interest in hiring me out of the program has been limited at best.”
“There’s a good chance September won’t be an actor anymore,” Greenslade added.
“Some miracle might happen sooner, but I have a family to take care of.
“I have a broken heart and look forward to the future, but in the world we live in, who isn’t? I still don’t give up, I still have 3 months to try to make something happen, but if they work like the last 10 years, I’ll still be eternally grateful to have been able to live my dreams. “
Fans flooded the comments section asking Greenslade “don’t give up,” to which he replied, “I’m not giving up to make sure I can feed my little son and keep the heating on. I won’t stop acting.” , I will stop being an unemployed actor “.
In another comment, Greenslade said, “I’m also a father and partner and I can’t afford to keep trying to break an industry that has nothing to do with me. Keeping trying means having no income while the industry hope you give me a clue “.
Greenslade, who has a one-year-old son Ted with his partner Anna Webster, has appeared in Crazy as hell throughout his 11 years.
During his time he has played several characters, including advertising guru Flornoy Quimbie.
ABC has not commented on the future of Crazy as hell.
However, Micallef added in later tweets that he was working with ABC to “evolve the show with someone else in the chair or maybe do different shows using our very talented cast and team.”
