The new HMD Nokia phone has a hidden charger for the included headset

HMD has announced a trio of new phones with Nokia features, including the Nokia 5710 XpressAudio, which has a built-in charging case for a pair of wireless headphones. The company is far from the first to have this idea (see the 2019 Servo R25 as a recent example), but it is notable to see the form factor attempting a more consolidated company with global reach.

The Nokia 5710 XpressAudio looks like a phone with normal candy bar style function from the front, with a 2.4-inch screen and a classic T9 keyboard. But at the back, there is a cargo compartment, revealed with the sliding of a plastic cover. The device will retail for £ 74.99 (€ 69) and will be available in the UK in late July, although no US version is known.

True wireless headphones offer up to four hours of music playback per charge, or 2.4 hours of talk time, and the phone itself has a long enough battery life that doesn’t seem to keep charging accessories great. problem. HMD says the Nokia 5710 XpressAudio’s 1,450mAh removable battery offers up to six hours of talk time via 4G and up to 20 days of standby with two 4G SIM cards inserted.

Because the Nokia 5710 XpressAudio is a feature-packed phone, there is no mention of compatibility with modern music playback services like Spotify or Apple Music. (It works with the 30 Plus series operating system that was used for almost a decade on Nokia-branded phones.) HMD isn’t rightly reviving Nokia’s music services from before (they were bad). In contrast, the playback options of the device are a bit outdated and include the ability to play MP3s or listen to an integrated FM radio.

Along with the Nokia 5710 XpressAudio, HMD has also announced the Nokia 8210 4G feature phone (based on the classic Nokia 8210 launched in 1999) and a folding phone called the Nokia 2660 Flip. The 8210 4G will cost £ 64.99 (€ 59), while the Nokia 2660 Flip will cost £ 64.99 (€ 69) and has an optional charging cradle which costs an additional £ 20 (€ 20). Both are available in late July.

Finally, there’s the Nokia T10, an smaller eight-inch Android tablet compared to the 10-inch T20 launched last year. Prices start at £ 129 (€ 159) for a Wi-Fi-only model with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage that will be available in August.
