Iran has offered to provide Russia with armed drones for its war in Ukraine, U.S. officials have said as the new Cold War brings anti-Western nations closer.
Jake Sullivan, the White House’s national security adviser, told reporters last night that Tehran was offering to replenish Moscow’s depleted weapons stockpiles.
“The Iranian government is preparing to provide Russia with up to several hundred UAVs [unmanned aerial vehicles]including UAVs capable of weapons, in an accelerated timeline, ”he said.
“Our information further indicates that Iran is preparing to train Russian forces to use these UAVs, with initial training sessions scheduled to begin in early July.”
President Biden will begin a tour of the Middle East tomorrow, visiting Israel and Saudi Arabia to move forward.
