A train carrying grain has derailed in southern Alberta, the Canadian Pacific Railway confirmed Wednesday.
On Wednesday afternoon, a CP train derailed in Bassano, Alta., About 140 miles southeast of Calgary.
A CP spokesman said there were no injuries and the incident is being investigated.
Bassano resident Thomas McPhail said he is happy the derailment has not affected any residents or buildings, but said the cleanup will likely be a major project.
“It’s a pretty big mess. If you can imagine a grain car stacked on top of each other and spilled,” McPhail said.
“There are a few cars involved.”
