Hundreds line up to get water as the main explosion leaves homes without during the heat wave

Hundreds of people were seen queuing to buy bottles of water after a major gust left homes homeless during the heat wave.

People living in parts of west Norfolk have been without a water supply since noon on Saturday (July 16).

Anglian Water is trying to fix the “complex” problem, which saw the main water network burst along the Spring Lane bike lane in Gaywood, and work is expected to be completed and supplies to return by 6 p.m. this afternoon.

This would mean that some houses have been left with running water for 30 hours.

But with the ongoing heat wave that has experienced highs of up to 30 ÂșC across the county, concern was raised about the well-being of affected and most vulnerable households.

This prompted action by communities in and around West Norfolk to bring water to those who needed it.

Bottles of water were handed out on Sunday in North Wootton and South Wootton town halls.

But Norfolk County Councilor for Gaywood South, Rob Colman, said Anglian Water, who was expected to be at South Wootton Town Hall with water bottles at 1 p.m., did not arrive until 2.30pm this afternoon.

This caused long queues with prominent families in the scorching heat.
