Smartphone case maker Dbrand is doing something … in response to Nothing.
This headline didn’t pretend to read as boring as it did, but we’re at a point where companies openly parody the Nothing Phone (1), an Android smartphone built around minimalism while taking it too seriously.
Dbrand is the company in question, a large case manufacturing company specializing in both durable and aesthetically appealing cases. And they did … Something.

Dbrand’s “Something” cases are meant to make fun of the Nothing Phone style (1). If you didn’t know, the most unique feature of the phone (1) is the back, a transparent case that allows you to look at some of the internal parts, including the flashing LEDs if you receive a message. To clarify, Something cases only have the internal parts printed, it doesn’t really make the back of the phone transparent.
“Minimalism for the masses,” the Something website says.
“Imagine trying to get into the smartphone market. Turns out having less money than Apple makes it a little difficult. Availability? Limited. Supply? Restricted.
“Even with such an attractive design that people pay ridiculous profits to StockX, no one can get their hands on your fantastic new flashlight. To top it off, Dbrand idiots have represented your design and are doing it for in competition.
You may remember Dbrand as the company that dared Sony to sue its custom PS5 faceplates. They like to be a little sarcastic on their website, as can be seen from some of their product descriptions, and have already released jabs like the Something series, such as the “(Not) Animal Crossing” fur line .
Regarding the commotion, Dbrand. You’ve spotted a phone going through a lot of hype and bought it with a number of cases that honestly look pretty good. Dbrand Something cases are available for the iPhone 13 Pro Max, Google Pixel 6 Pro and Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra. Skins are also available for these phones, including one for the Apple Magsafe charger.
Don’t confuse these “transparent” cases and skins with Dbrand’s “Teardown” initiative, which includes cases and skins that show the inside of your specific phone.
Great stuff, Dbrand.
