It was a series of carefully crafted photo opportunities as Prime Minister Justin Trudeau made a dizzying tour of parts of the Okanagan on Monday.

Trudeau’s first stop was at a daycare in Lake Country, where he played and did crafts with the students.

He then paid a visit to the BC Tree Fruits Cooperative in Kelowna and posted photos with the workers.

A woman he stopped talking to has been working at the plant since 1987 and met Trudeau’s father, Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau when she was little.

Some of the buyers at the tree fruit shop were caught unawares when they came face to face with the prime minister.

“We just saw a lot of people out there with cameras and we thought a movie could be shot,” said Kim, who was going shopping with her young daughter.

“We knew the prime minister was in town, but we didn’t know he would be here,” he added.

His last stop of the day was at Lutz Orchards in Summerland, where he spoke with owner Derek Lutz about the recent weather impacts on his cherry harvest.
