Environment Canada has issued tornado surveillance for much of southwestern Ontario indicating an increase in potential violent weather Wednesday.

Windsor-Essex, Chatham-Kent, Sarnia-Lambton and London-Middlesex are under control, which aired just after noon.

On Wednesday at 3 p.m., Environment Canada issued a severe storm warning for Windsor-Essex as the storm line began to move through the region.

A tornado clock means that conditions are favorable for tornado development.

Meteorologists are monitoring a storm system in Michigan, which is expected to pass through Ontario starting Wednesday afternoon.

Winds with gusts between 90 and 110 km / h are possible, along with nickel hail.

The weather agency recommends having a plan if the weather situation gets worse.

“In the event of a tornado, or if a tornado warning is issued for your area, it is recommended that you take the following actions,” the Environment Canada statement read. “Go inside to a room on the lower floor, away from outside walls and windows, such as a basement, a bathroom, a staircase, or an interior closet. Leave mobile homes, vehicles, tents, trailers and other temporary or independent shelters and move to a strong building if you can. As a last resort, lie down in a low place and protect your head from flying debris. “
