It was a day that will last a long time in memory when Nottingham Forest secured promotion to the Premier League with a 1-0 win over Huddersfield Town on Sunday 29 March.
It was an unlikely end to a season that began with Forest championship final after seven games with one point. An own goal by Levi Colwill showed the difference in the decisive play-off to dismiss Forest on promotion.
Fans in the capital, and in Nottingham, were excited about the victory and were on the streets celebrating celebrating first-class football next season. Now, after a night of celebration, Nottinghamshire wakes up with a spring in its wake.
Not only the club benefits. Nottingham City Council said earlier that the city alone would get a £ 120m boost due to the result, along with an additional 100,000 visitors.
According to the latest economic and social impact report released by the Premier League, which details the figures for the 2019/20 interrupted season, only Midlands clubs contributed £ 500 million to the region. In England, the economic impact of the Premier League was £ 3.6 million in tax revenue, £ 7.6 million in gross value added in the country, £ 94,000 full-time equivalent jobs and £ 5.1 million of pounds in income.
We’re talking to people about what all this means for Nottingham, and also for the county. Follow our live blog below for updates.
