HOUSTON — Yordan Alvarez, Alex Bregman and Chas McCormick homered as the Astros continued to dominate the Yankees with a 7-5 victory Thursday night and a doubleheader sweep at Minute Maid Park.
The Astros, who earned a 3-2 victory in Game 1, have won five of their seven meetings with the Yankees this year and are now just 2 1/2 games behind the Bronx Firemen for the best record in the American League.
The only time Houston trailed the Yankees in seven games this year was after the final swing of the bat in losses at Yankee Stadium on June 23 and 26.
Alvarez, who was activated from the disabled list before Game 1, and Bregman hit back-to-back homers in the first inning, and Alvarez added a two-run double in the second. McCormick blasted a two-run homer to right field in the sixth to make it 7-2.
