Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves: Spells, Creatures, and Other D&D Easter Eggs

The creatures and realms of Dungeons & Dragons

This dragon breathes what appears to be black acid instead of fire; this could indicate that he is an extremely powerful and chaotic ancient black dragon, who uses an acid breath attack.

This appears to be the Underdark, an underground realm.

A quick image of a Mimic, an infamous D&D creature that masquerades as a treasure chest.

Two famous D&D monsters in one hit! Both a displacement beast and a gelatinous cube can be seen here.

Although it is difficult to tell the exact color of this dragon, due to the volcanic atmosphere and its fire breath, it is likely to be a red dragon, known for being fierce tyrants.

Dungeons & Dragons spells

The mage appears to be using some sort of protective spell, possibly a force barrier, to shield the oncoming arrows.

Looks like someone might have used the Heat Metal spell on Michelle Rodriguez’s axe.

It looks like Sophia Lillis’ character might be using the Dimension Door spell here.

The mage is casting some kind of lightning spell, which could be Witch Bolt, depending on the form.

Based on the sounds heard here, the mage might be using the Magic Missile.

The other mage teleports through a spell – could this be a case of Misty Step?

The Tiefling character of Sophia Lillis

Most of the characters appear to be human, but based on their horns, Sophia Lillis’ character is probably a Tiefling.

This shows Lillis’ character transforming from a horse into the much more powerful beast, the Owl Bear. However, it’s worth noting that the Wild Shape ability, the class feature that allows druids to change into animals, would not allow transformation into an Owlbear, as it is technically classified as a monstrosity. This could mean that the filmmakers are playing around with the combat rules a bit, or that a spell simply cast Polymorph on him.

The trailer was dubbed shortly after fans got their first look at its lead characters in costume. Stay tuned for everything else announced at San Diego Comic-Con 2022 as the show continues.
