He said customers can get a pint for the same price it cost in 1952, when the queen first took the throne.
But now he will give away the drink for free because it is not allowed to sell combs for that price according to the licensing laws.
A Greene King spokesman said: “We will now give the first look at Greene King’s IPA for free today, as we now understand that it is not allowed under licensing law to charge 6p.”
The same rules apply to getting your bargain comb as before: you need to know the secret code.
Bettors should say “1952” when ordering at the bar to take advantage of the offer.
This is because it is the year of the royal coronation of Queen Elizabeth II.
Guests can get a pint of Greene King IPA at one of the group’s 408 local pubs or Flaming Grill sites.
You can only claim one pint per person and you must be over 18 years old.
You can find out where your nearest Greene King branch is using the chain’s pub location tool.
The usual price of a pint of IPA varies depending on where you order, but 6p is considerably cheaper than the average cost of a drink.
It’s not the only time Greene King is handing out pints to thirsty customers.
It offered free Guinness pints to gamblers who visited the chain on St. Patrick’s Day, but to get one, you had to buy a carvery dinner.
He also offered free pints in June last year to celebrate the country’s reopening after the confinement and the Euro tournament.
The free comb will help bettors save money as they face paying more to have a drink at the pub.
Bettors have already been warned that the price of a pint could reach £ 7 this year.
There have also been recent concerns about beer shortages this summer amid worker strikes and glass shortages.
