PC Matthew Tregale has been charged with attempted rape, false imprisonment and sexual assault
A Devon and Cornwall officer is due to appear at Plymouth Magistrates’ Court after being summoned in connection with eight offences. PC Matthew Tregale, 33, is currently suspended from duty.
He is due at Plymouth Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, July 26.

The crimes for which he is being questioned are attempted rape, false imprisonment, sexual assault, three counts of sexual assault by penetration and two counts of coercive and controlling conduct.
A statement issued by the force added: “The charges relate to incidents which occurred while the officer was off duty between 2006 and 2021.”
