Vancouver’s skies will be filled with bright, dazzling colors Saturday night as the Honda Celebration of Light event returns to English Bay.
Like many events, the annual international fireworks festival was on hiatus for the first two years of the pandemic, but is back for its long-awaited 30th year.

“It’s a very exciting time for us to come back and bring this incredible event to all of British Columbia,” said Paul Runnals, a spokesperson for the Honda Celebration of Light.
“I want to recognize and thank all of our agency partners who worked so hard behind the scenes to make this possible.”

Japan will take the stage on Saturday night, followed by Canada on Wednesday July 27th and Spain performing on July 30th.

Officials advise attendees to plan ahead, as streets will be busy for both cars and pedestrians.
“This will be the first major event or the largest event that Vancouver has hosted since the pandemic began,” said Sgt. Steve Addison said, a VPD officer.
“We’re anticipating tens of thousands of people descending on the West End on the streets, beaches and parks.”
In addition to the traffic, there will also be many road closures around Vancouver’s West End on Saturday night.
The public is asked to walk, bike or take the bus to the event instead of driving.
