A police officer taken to hospital after being crushed between a police car and a double-decker bus: live updates

A road in north Manchester was recorded this afternoon after a collision between a police car and a double-decker bus. Fernclough Road was closed after the collision, prompting emergency services to approach the scene.

According to police, a police officer was taken to hospital with minor injuries. A total of nine people were checked by paramedics at the scene.

Police later confirmed that the police car in question was in a “first-degree” emergency response with blue lights when the crash occurred. Stagecoach said the car turned around on the other side of the road.

Spectacular video footage taken from the scene appears to show that a Greater Manchester police car crashed into the 119 Stagecoach service. The bus operator announced shortly after 4 p.m. that there were diversions along Rochdale Road in both directions for numerous services, including 112, 116, 117, and 119.

Numerous police vehicles were photographed at the scene, as the stretch of road was cordoned off by officers in both areas. Thick clouds of smoke can also be seen, with the front of both vehicles visibly damaged.
