The boyfriend of a missing Sydney mother has been charged with murder following the discovery of a woman’s body in bushland in Sydney’s north-west.
The body has not yet been formally identified but is believed to be that of the woman Shereen Kumar, 43, who has been missing since Wednesday.
Vincent Carlino, 37, who told the Daily Mail earlier this week he was “extremely worried” about his girlfriend, was arrested at a home in Dural just after 11.30pm on Saturday.
He was taken to Hornsby Police Station and charged with murder in what police allege was an incident of domestic violence.
Police will allege Mr Carlino killed Ms Kumar shortly after 9pm on Wednesday night, wrapped her in plastic and duct tape and left her body in the bush. The Daily Telegraphreported
He was refused bail to appear in Parramatta Bail Court on Sunday.
The woman had been reported to the police this Thursday morning after her family raised the alarm.
Mr. Carlino said he had left the house in his pajamas and had not taken his phone with him.
“I’ve told the police all the places I think he might be,” he said.
Mr Carlino and Ms Kumar, who are understood to have been living together at the time of her disappearance, took over the franchises of popular pet walking service Hornsby Mad Dogs & Englishmen in October last year .
Sydney’s mother, who was also a part-time model, had appeared in several magazines, including French fashion publication Malvie and Amsterdam’s Selin magazine.
His disappearance prompted coordinated police searches of the surrounding area over the past three days, with the police air wing and canine unit assisting.
At around 5.50pm on Saturday, police located the body of a woman while searching bushland off Laurie Road, Dural.
A crime scene was established, which is being examined by specialist forensic police.
Police said investigations are continuing.
