TP-Link joins MobileMuster to help recycle old home networks

TP-link has joined forces with MobileMuster to support its efforts in recycling home networks and IoT devices.

The Australian Mobile Telecommunications Association (AMTA) administers MobileMuster. It has just expanded its product management program beyond mobile phones to three new and growing e-waste product streams, including network connectivity; smart home technology; and wearables and peripherals.

Australia is currently the world’s fifth largest generator of e-waste per capita. Expanding the program to properly recycle more unwanted devices was essential.

“Expanding the reach of collected and recycled products will further demonstrate how the technology industry can work together to deliver measurable social and environmental outcomes that benefit the local economy and consumers. We are delighted that TP-Link is joining our other members to demonstrate leadership and action through their commitment to a more sustainable future.

Spyro Kalos, Head of MobileMuster

MobileMuster is the only voluntary electronic product stewardship scheme accredited by the Australian Government. It provides a comprehensive e-waste solution to address the environmental, health and safety impacts of telecommunications products throughout their life cycle. The program is funded by members, including major mobile phone manufacturers and network operators, along with many other electronic hardware manufacturers.

“TP-Link continues to expand our product offering to anticipate and meet the growing demands of tomorrow. At the same time, we are keenly aware of the growing problem of e-waste globally and recognize that we have a crucial role to play in minimizing impact of these devices on the environment in the long term.
