I’m sure we’re all loving Stray right now, I know I am. But what if you were a dog?
That’s right, cat lover shit. What if you were a dog? Forget Dog’s Life and keep neglecting your Nintendogs. Don’t worry, they’ve probably already moved on to a better life.
There are all sorts of new mods for Stray, including lots of skins for the cat if you weren’t happy with a Garfield guy. Oh, it also includes a Garfield skin.
While the developers said their decision not to customize characters ultimately came down to production constraints and narrative justification, that didn’t mean other people couldn’t take it into their own hands. And indeed they did, but in an even doggier way.
As Comicbook reports, a new mod for Stray created by Chris Rubino allows players to replace the tabby cat with a French bulldog. There are currently no video recordings of the French Bulldog in action, so we can’t confirm that its movements have become less cat-like, or that its meows have become little snorts. If you want to try it yourself, you can check it out here.
I think it’s great that we live in a world where people can be a cat or a dog. But why stop there? Why should we end the conversation there?
What if I want to play Stray as a weird lizard? Or even a snail, a hideous snail the same size as the cat? Hey, what if I just want the chance to control a creepy horror, with all the movements of a tiny kitten? What if?
It’s also unknown if the cats introduced at the start of the game (spoiler alert: there’s more than one cat) have also turned into little French Bulldogs. That said, if a French Bulldog lived among small cats, it would make sense that he would move and act like a small cat.
And in my opinion, it’s kind of nice.
