COVID-19 update on July 27, 2022

WA Health reports a total of 5,422 new cases as of 6pm last night. There are currently 29,457 active cases in Western Australia.

As of 6pm last night, there were 442 people with COVID-19 in hospital, 17 in ICU.

Sadly, today’s report includes three deaths, which were reported to WA Health yesterday, dating back to July 24, two women in their 90s and a man in his 70s.

  1. This data is based on the residential zip code of each case. The case may have an isolation address in another region.
  2. The rest of the reported daily cases (96) do not yet have an assigned region. Data will continue to be reconfigured as this information is verified.

Of the 5,422 cases, 1,990 were confirmed by PCR testing, the remaining 3,432 were self-reported positive antigen rapid tests.

A total of 7,568 PCR tests were carried out yesterday in public or private pathology clinics.

WA has recorded 1,048,353 cases since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.

In accordance with national guidelines, WA Health has adjusted the total number of cases reported in this State to prevent positive secondary results within 12 weeks of exit from isolation following initial COVID infection.
