Britt and Brooks will face second round in Alabama Senate, after no candidate reaches 50%

Former Senate employee Katie Britt and Rep. Mo Brooks, R-Wing, will face off next month in a second round for Alabama’s Republican nomination to the U.S. Senate, according to the Associated Press.

Britt has a major lead in the primary day voting, but will not reach the 50% threshold needed to avoid a second round. Brooks, meanwhile, leads veteran Mike Durant enough to secure a second-place finish and a showdown against Britt that will likely be decided by Alabama’s next U.S. senator.

“It’s clear tonight that the people of Alabama want new blood. Yes. They want someone to go to Washington, DC and shake it up,” Britt told his followers, according to Fox News’ Ben Florence.

“Two months ago, experts declared our campaign dead in the water,” Brooks said. “Today? Call me Lazarus! Back from the dead, resurrected by Alabama citizens who found out who the real MAGA curator is and voted for America First. Thank you!”

Trump spokesman promotes “huge victories” for approved candidates, despite heavy loss in Georgia

Former President Donald Trump spokesman Taylor Budowich on Tuesday promoted the strength of Trump’s endorsement, although one of his biggest enemies in the Republican Party defeated a Trump-backed opponent.
