On Monday, police identified the victim as Maanav Kinkar, a Burnaby resident. He died at Hazelnut Meadows Park near 140th Street between 68th and 70th Avenues around 8:40 p.m., May 26th.

Police did not provide the cause of death, but said there were indications of foul play and the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team was called.

Her parents reported Kinkar’s disappearance at the same time, Sergeant IHIT said. David Lee. Investigators believe Kinkar’s death was a specific incident, but it is not related to the Lower Mainland gang conflict.

They are working on a chronology of activities and the Kinkar Parador on Thursday. Investigators believe the teenager boarded the SkyTrain to Surrey Central Station that night and may have boarded a bus. IHIT posted a picture and video of Kinkar from a SkyTrain station.

The IHIT is looking for witnesses who saw him that night, especially people living in the park area, or who have images from script cameras or CCTV between 6 and 9 pm on May 26.

“This is a quiet area with several residences surrounding the park along 140th Street, 68th Avenue and 142nd Street,” Lee said in a statement. “These houses may have the video and testimonials we are looking for.”

Anyone with information is asked to call IHIT at 1-877-551-4448 (IHIT).
