HoYoverse released a new teaser video for Genshin Impact Sumeru on July 29, featuring another discussion with the developers, who introduced several more characters: Tighnari, Al-Haitham, Dehya, Nilou, Nahida, and Cyno. There are several highlights in the video. We detail them below along with our first impressions.
This time, the video features Yogurt, a core member of the Genshin Impact writing team. This is now the third teaser trailer with the developers detailing some of the creation process behind Sumeru. The fourth region of Teyvat will launch with version 3.0 arriving on August 24, 2022. From what we’ve seen so far, the map design for the region looks amazing, which makes sense since the developers now have a lot more experience All the regions and subzones so far, Dragonspine, Enkanomiya, The Chasm, have been great to explore, and it looks like Sumeru will beat them all.

Next, it’s important to note that this is the first time Al-Haitham, Dehya, Nilou, and Nahida have been officially revealed with gameplay footage. All of these Sumeru characters were leaked several weeks ago in an unprecedented leak even before the 3.0 closed beta began. This caused many leakers to avoid talking about the leaks to avoid getting on HoYoverse’s radar.
Tighnari revealed with Collei during the last Drip Marketing. Meanwhile, Cyno initially appeared in the Genshin manga (with Collei) and was later shown as Sumeru’s representative character in the Teyvat Story Chapter trailer.
Genshin Impact Sumeru 03: Prelude To Wisdom Preview Teaser Reveals New Story Details
When it comes to Sumeru’s story, the trailer also officially introduced a group of mercenaries called The Hermits. Dehya is also part of this group. The trailer also showed off some of Sumeru’s mushroom-based fauna, which was already teased with what we’ve seen in The Chasm.
Next, the trailer also revealed that Al-Haitham is from Akademia’s Haravatat. We still don’t know what the Haravatat is in Sumeru, but we’ve heard about the Akademia many times in the game. We will meet Al-Haitham for the first time when visiting Port Ormos. Meanwhile, Nilou is an artist and dancer, a rare way of life for the people of Sumeru who prioritize rationality and wisdom.
It’s also interesting to note that the developers didn’t mention whether Nahida is supposed to be the current Dendro Archon or not and just called her a “mysterious” character. Still, it doesn’t seem like a big reveal, seeing as the Statues of the Seven we’ll be using in Sumeru look similar to Nahida.
Last but not least, at the end of the video, the developers also teased more Sumeru characters to come. This makes a lot of sense since only 7 characters have been revealed so far. In comparison, Inazuma already has 14 characters.
