Neighbors fans react to an emotional finale as the show comes to a close

Neighbors aired its hour-long finale in the UK tonight (July 29) and long-time fans of the show were extremely emotional.

The soap is ending after 37 years on the air, and the final episode lined up a slew of cameos from returning actors for the big send-off.

The finale saw the return of big names such as Guy Pearce, Margot Robbie, Kylie Minogue, Jason Donovan, Holly Valance, Natalie Imbruglia and many, many more, giving fans much excitement.

Most of these actors called into the show via a Zoom call, expressing their love for the cast and the soap. But what stood out to fans was the return of Guy Pearce as Mike Young and the epic conclusion to the story of his character Mike and Jane (Annie Jones).

People appreciated her coming back to finish her story and she stayed for the entire length of the episode.

The finale saw Mike finally reunited with Jane and left fans delighted.

Many tuned into the show after years of not seeing it and were hit with a wave of nostalgia, with one person tweeting: “It must have been 25 years since I watched, I had no idea what was going on , but I had to see him.”

Fans also expressed their excitement for cameos by Holly Valance and Natalie Imbruglia.

But what people seemed really excited about was Susan Kennedy’s (Jackie Woodburne) speech at the end, with one fan calling her “one of the best actresses to come out of Australia”.

Susan had the well-deserved honor of ending things as she wrote her entry into the Ramsay Street history book, leaving fans in tears.

It was a beautiful and emotional twist for a TV soap that has stuck with fans for generations. And it seems that viewers will always have hope that the world of Erinsborough can be revisited in the future.
