After a sunny and hot weekend, residents of Southwestern Ontario may want to consider staying indoors Monday afternoon.

Environment Canada has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for almost all southern counties of the province.

Monday’s high is expected to reach 28C, but it will feel like 36C with humidity in most parts of the region.

Local rainfall has increased to between 15-25mm and 20-40mm, while wind gusts could reach 90km/h.

The weather agency warns that water-related activities can be unsafe due to sudden, violent gusts of wind over bodies of water and the possibility of lightning. It is recommended to take cover immediately if threatening weather is approaching.
