Walt Disney Studios has finally confirmed the release date for Robert Zemeckis’ upcoming live action film Pinocchio, which will be released on Disney + later this year. The film features an all-star cast led by Oscar winner Tom Hanks and is a portrait of the classic children’s tale. It is currently scheduled to debut on Thursday, September 8, 2022.
The film will star Tom Hanks as Geppetto, Benjamin Evan Ainsworth as the main character, Joseph Gordon-Levitt as Jiminy Cricket, Cynthia Erivo as the blue fairy, Luke Evans as the evil Coachman, Keegan-Michael Key as Honest John and Lorraine Bracco. like Sofia the Seagull, a new character made only for the live-action film.

Disney’s Pinocchio live action is directed by Robert Zemeckis from a screenplay he wrote with Chris Weitz, based on the classic children’s story by Italian author Carlo Collodi. He will focus on the wooden puppet who dreams of becoming a “real child”, the relationship between a father and a son, the ramifications of lying and creating stories and life in a fantasy world.
The collaboration of Zemeckis and Hanks goes back to the second consecutive round of this latest Oscar winner at Forrest Gump and would later be reunited with Cast Away, which earned Hanks another Oscar nomination and a Balloon d’Or, followed by the cult Christmas classic The Polar Express. . The project is produced by Weitz and Andrew Miano through their Depth of Field production banner.
