16. TIGERS

Last week’s classification: 12th (under four places)

For a half against the inconsistent Rabbitohs, the Tigers looked like they were a rising club leading 18-12 only to capitulate in the second half, conceding six tries in a 44-18 defeat. The Tigers missed a whopping 51 tackles in their last strong defeat, which has increased pressure on Michael Maguire, with Tim Sheens doing a club review before his next game after the farewell. Daine Laurie was a brilliant spark for the club on their return from injury, but until the Tigers tackle their unfortunate defense, it will remain a step forward, two steps back.

15. BULLDOGS

Last week’s classification: 15th (no movement)

The Bulldogs did their best offensive performance of the season against the Dragons, but unfortunately they couldn’t match it with their defense as they fell in a 34-24 swing game. Jake Averillo scored a double and Matt Dufty had a strong game against his former club, while Matt Burton improved his performance to five eighths. However, the Bulldogs were guilty of passing too many soft tries and until they hardened the goal line defense and made an 80-minute performance, they would not win enough games to avoid the wooden spoon for the second year in a row.

14. TITANS

Last week’s classification: 13th (low position)

The Titans continued their confusing season by showing how good they can be to lead the high-flying Broncos 24-4, before imploding to concede 31 straight points in a 35-24 loss. Toby Sexton played his best game as a midfielder this season with three assists before a cruel injury, but he and AJ Brimson didn’t have the management to close out a game they should never have been in. close to losing. Jayden Campbell kept trying to force his way through on the right side and Tino Fa’asuamaleaui got his chance after 80 minutes, but the home side’s defense held their position and stopped the attack.

13. WARRIORS

Last week’s classification: 14th (one more place)

Reece Walsh’s attempted terror conversion summed up the Warriors this season as they fell 24-16 in a frustrating performance against the Knights. Shaun Johnson’s erratic form remains a real concern, as he and his teammate Chanel Harris-Tavita had seven errors, two penalties conceded and five missed innings between them against the Knights and Warriors needing much more from their creators. game. The team clearly missed their top two strikers in injured Addin Fonua-Blake and now-defunct Matt Lodge as they struggled to throw a platform ahead. Despite the club’s denials, Nathan Brown is under more pressure with each growing loss.

12. KNIGHTS

Last week’s classification: 16th (four more places)

The Knights were far from perfect against the Warriors, but there are some real indications that the second half of the year could be much more fruitful than the first. Anthony Milford has added an additional threat to attacking the midfielders to remove the pressure that Kalyn Ponga should have done everything and Jake Clifford has improved a lot after his change in midfield. Ponga’s form is on the rise and she is picking and choosing her times with much more effect. However, Daniel Saifiti is a big loser and the Knights have a number of Origin reps to cover in the coming weeks, which could hurt their resurgence.

11. MARKING EAGLES Last week’s ranking: 9th (under two places)

The Sea Eagles are in free fall after their third straight loss, this time against the Storm convincingly 28-8. Reuben Garrick did his best to increase in the absence of Tom Trbojevic against Melbourne, but Manly needs more creativity from his other backbone players. Daly Cherry-Evans and Kieran Foran are responsible for creating more goal opportunities for their teammates, without their best attacking weapon for the rest of the season. If they can’t beat the humble Warriors and Tigers in the next fortnight, they could be curtains for Manly’s top eight hopes.

10. RABBITS Last week’s ranking: 11th (one more place)

The Rabbitohs started slowly against the Tigers before coming home after six unanswered tries in the second half for a 44-18 defeat. Alex Johnston broke the club’s goal-scoring record and Campbell Graham and Tom Burgess were excellent for the Bunnies in the convincing victory. Despite the big win, Kodi Nikorima’s experiment on the sidelines didn’t really work out and the Souths can’t get Latrell Mitchell back on the team shortly after the farewell. The Rabbitohs’ challenge is to find some consistency and put some victories together to climb the ladder and consolidate their eighth place finish.

9. DRACS

Last week’s classification: 10th (one more place)

The Dragons showed all the good and bad of their season so far in a 34-24 victory over the humble Bulldogs. Ben Hunt continued his strong form, while Cody Ramsey was once again solid as a defender against the man who replaced the Dragons with Matt Dufty. However, after leading 16-2, this was a match they should have continued with and are still looking for that clinical performance and a killer instinct to match teams consistently.

8. RAIDERS Last week’s ranking: 7th (under one place)

The Raiders’ three-game winning streak ended against the Eels, but they pushed them to the end in an exciting 28-20 loss and their resurgence of the season is still on track if they continue to make that same kind of effort. Jamal Fogarty looked understandably rusty after his return from a long layoff, while Jack Wighton was on his final hit before the Origin series. Xavier Savage was solid in the absence of Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad in the back, while accessories Josh Papalii and Joe Tapine were huge in front in front of a formidable group of Eels. There are still doubts that the Raiders have the class to match the best teams consistently, but they are going in the right direction with their commitment and effort.

7. GALLRanking last week: 8th (one more place)

The Roosters continued their resurgence mid-season with their third win in four starts, a convincing 36-16 victory over the Sharks. Master Trent Robinson got one on his protégé Craig Fitzgibbon after the Roosters blew the sharks away soon. James Tedesco reminded everyone that he is still the best winger and one of the best players in the game in his best performance of the season, while Luke Keary is returning to his best form and Daniel Tupou got a Call of Origin with two try the effort. However, this victory was based on an improvement in the performance of the initial group of the Roosters, who all exceeded 100 meters running. As long as they can get past the Origin period with a couple of wins, the Roosters are on their way to another place in the top four and are starting to reach their peak at the right time.

6. SHARK Last week’s ranking: 4th (under two places)

The Sharks have been one of the surprise packs of the season so far, but a tough streak of injuries and suspensions has seen them return to the group and beat the Roosters 36-16. William Kennedy had his worst game with the Sharks for two seasons and will face pressure from rookie Lachlan Miller for his place after the farewell. The Sharks missed leaders Dale Finucane and Wade Graham as their group was heavily defeated by the Roosters and Nicho Hynes was quiet in the face of his recent hot form. Sharks still have a long way to go to reach the standards of the upper sides.

5. EELSranking last week: 6th (one more place)

The Eels finally regained their second straight win since round 5 in a tough 28-20 win over the Raiders at home. Dylan Brown was the best player on the field with two tries and 177 yards of running, and the Eels need to play more often in the back of their devastating running game. Mitchell Moses ’kick-off game is at the best of his career and the Eels have the balance between their squad to be one of the best teams in the competition. The challenge now will be to withstand the period of origin minus some of its stars and strive to reach the top four in the later half of the year by showing more consistency.

4. STORML last week’s ranking: 5th (one more place)

The Storm broke its streak of two straight defeats with a convincing 28-8 victory over rival arch Manly. Cameron Munster is making possibly the best season of his career after scoring a double and dominating Manly with teammate Jahrome Hughes at his side. Nick Meaney …
