The three spot fires that broke out Thursday night in the Okanagan are considered “contained” as of Friday morning.

The BC Wildfire Service is closely monitoring the Liddell Creek fire west of Summerland.

“Yesterday afternoon, early evening, there were four helicopters and seven firefighters with two water tankers,” spokeswoman Nicole Bonnett said.

He says crews battled the fire late into the night, “will be back out there around noon today.”

The two small fires that broke out in and around Okanagan Mountain Park were started by lightning, but have been brought under control; both are registered and held at 0.01 acres.

Bonnet says crews will continue to patrol the two fires on the east side of the lake, but will be actively fighting Liddell Creek on Friday, which the fire is at 0.30ha.
