Fortunately, traffic is smooth on area roads and highways Saturday morning after a major traffic disruption Friday that began early morning on Highway 401 between Shannonville and Marysville.
The information indicates that on Friday at half past eight in the morning a tractor trailer collided with a parked vehicle, causing a large fire. Fortunately, there were no serious injuries.
The entire freeway was closed for a while and the eastbound lanes were closed all day and did not reopen until after 8pm yesterday.
Due to heat damage from the fire, Ministry of Transportation personnel and contractors had to make repairs to the highway surface.
There were reports of people taking more than five hours to get from Belleville to Napanee.
Meanwhile, around 7:30 p.m. Friday, a vehicle went into a ditch on the 401 West on-ramp in Brighton. No one was injured.
And just before midnight there was a single vehicle collision on a 401 ramp to Highway 62 in Belleville.
The driver suffered non-life threatening injuries.
