The bison stalks a woman after approaching an animal in Yellowstone

A woman was gored by a bison in Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming after she approached the animal Monday morning, park officials said.

According to a press release, the 25-year-old unidentified young man from Grove City, Ohio, walked towards the cattle as he approached a boardwalk north of Old Faithful.

When she approached the animal less than ten feet away, the animal horned it and threw it into the air, officials said.

The victim suffered a stab and other injuries and was taken to a hospital, authorities said.

Yellowstone visitors are advised to stay at least 75 feet away from large animals such as bison, elk, horned sheep, deer, elk and coyotes, and at least 300 feet away from bears and wolves.

“Bison have injured more people in Yellowstone than any other animal. They are unpredictable and can run three times as fast as humans,” park officials warned.
