Texas BBQ restaurant manager says thief stole nearly $3,000 worth of ribs

The general manager of a Texas barbecue restaurant says a thief stole nearly $3,000 worth of fish on the morning of August 4th.

Alison Clem, the general manager of the Austin, Texas BBQ, said someone who jumped a fence around 4 a.m. and ran to the smoker said 20 nozzles were stolen, according to FOX 7 .

Clem said she believes the thief had been planning the robbery.

“We’re kind of speculating that he’s been watching. You know, maybe someone who used to cook for us. We haven’t had a check-in at the house since we’ve been here, so it wouldn’t be current. So it’s also odd that he knew.” Clem said.

He said the incident was caught on camera and lasted about 15 minutes.

“One of my strongest guys over there can barely lift 10 nozzles in a box and [the thief] he raised them above his head. So I really think it was planned.” Clem said.

The cost of the meat, according to Clem, is $3,000 when seasoning and labor are factored in, he said.

Clem also said that although this is the seventh or eighth time the restaurant has been broken into, it is the first time that meat has been stolen.

“I can only speculate that he possibly works for a food truck or a restaurant. I don’t know, even throwing a party. I have no idea,” Clem said.
