House Democrats passed the $739 billion Inflation Relief Act on Friday without a single Republican vote, giving President Biden’s domestic agenda a boost at a time of record inflation and low approval ratings for presidential jobs.

Republicans who opposed the bill argued that it is full of unnecessary spending and will not address rising inflation, and many cited a report by the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office that said the legislation would have an “insignificant” effect on inflation.
