The 75-year-old Rocket Man singer was photographed on Sunday arriving at Leipzig airport on his way home from Nice on the Côte d’Azur.
During his visit to Germany, Sir Elton had performed two shows, in Frankfurt and Leipzig, during his long tour of Farewell Yellow Brick Road.
The musician was seen getting out of a car and getting into a wheelchair before the flight.
Wearing a Gucci tracksuit, the star looked fragile as one of his teams pushed him to the terminal.
It arrives just days before Elton stars alongside big names like Queen with Adam Lambert, to open the star-studded Platinum Jubilee concert on Saturday night.
Sir Elton John has recorded a special performance, while other stars such as Alicia Keys, Craig David, Duran Duran, Andrea Bocelli will also perform.
