The UK is preparing to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee over a four-day festive weekend.
It is the first time in British history that a monarch has reached the milestone of 70 years.
Thousands of street parties have been held across the country, along with official events such as Trooping the Color and an outdoor concert at Buckingham Palace.
And while the holidays will be plentiful, the holiday will also disrupt some key services.
This is how the publication will affect the jubilee.
Will there be publications during the Jubilee weekend?
Royal Mail has confirmed that there will be no charges or deliveries on Thursday or Friday, as both are holidays.
This is the case across the UK.
Post offices will remain closed. Local offices, such as those in convenience stores, may still be open, albeit with reduced hours, while post offices should be open as usual on Saturdays.
You can use the Royal Mail Branch Finder to check for up-to-date information about your local post office or the information you need to contact them directly.
You can still put mail in a mailbox, but it won’t be picked up until Saturday.
Letters are collected on Saturdays across the UK from 7am to 1.30pm.
There will also be deliveries on Saturdays. There is never a pick-up or delivery on Sundays.
When is the Platinum Jubilee Holiday?
The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee holiday is Friday, June 3, 2022.
This is almost four months after Elizabeth II celebrated the 70th anniversary of her accession on February 6, 2022.
However, this date also marked 70 years since the death of his father, King George VI, and so it was not an occasion he wanted to celebrate.
Instead, the first week of June was chosen for the Platinum Jubilee Weekend, as were the Queen’s Gold and Diamond Jubilees, with the summer month offering more chances for good weather.
To create the four-day weekend, the spring holiday of late May has been moved to Thursday, June 2, with the additional day off following Friday.
