Many Canadians may feel out of the hot real estate market, but there are still some cities in the country where buyers can buy homes for less than $ 200,000.
But you probably won’t find these houses in Ontario or British Columbia.
This is according to a Point2Homes.com analysis of real estate prices across the country, based on all active listings and pending sales for the first week of May. The online real estate company found that 10% of all homes for sale in Canada are listed for less than $ 200,000, and very few are in the most populous and expensive cities in Canada. Less than one percent of listings for sale in the largest and most expensive cities in the country had less than $ 200,000.
In Ontario, Kawartha Lakes was the only region where 4.8% of homes for sale were priced at $ 200,000 or less. There are no homes in Toronto, Mississauga and Brampton with homes below $ 200,000. In BC, Kelowna was the city with the highest percentage of homes listed for less than $ 200,000 with only 0.96 percent. Vancouver and Burnaby were not listed for less than $ 200,000, while Abbotsford had 14 of 1,000 homes for sale for less than $ 200,000.
However, there are regions where more affordable housing can still be found.
“Home buyers who are willing to expand their housing search in the larger cities of the Prades, Atlantic Canada or Quebec can choose wider concentrations from more affordable listings,” Point2 said.
These are the places in Canada with the largest proportion of homes listed for less than $ 200,000. Point2 analyzed the largest cities in each region of the country, such as Atlantic Canada, Quebec, Ontario, the Prades, and BC.
