OPINION: Ole Gunnar Solskjaer made a mistake with Paul Pogba at United
Paul Pogba joked that his move to Juventus “was like a holiday” before returning “home” to Manchester United six years ago. In the end, it was his return to Manchester that looked more like a holiday, with the same amount of chaos that those facing Terminal One in the region will no doubt experience during the summer season.
There were tantrums, moments of joy and brief moments of escape from United’s wider problems, but Pogba’s departure has led to a lot of reflection and a new debate about how good he really was.
In his day, he couldn’t play, but it rarely seemed like it was his day. Pogba was excellent in the Europa League victory five years ago, a talisman in the comeback to delay the rise of the Man City title a year later, and after world class during Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s incredible career as the interim coach.
