Mohamed Salah has confirmed that “he will stay safe next season” as speculation about his future continues to grow with a new contract not yet signed at Liverpool.
The future of the Egyptian has been hotly debated throughout the season without an extension yet being agreed and with his current deal expiring in 2023.
Contract negotiations have been dragging on for several months, but Salah has long insisted that “it’s not about money at all.”
And Kylian Mbappé’s decision to stay at PSG has once again sparked speculation about Salah’s future, as Real Madrid prepare to splurge on money for a new striker.
But during Wednesday’s pre-Champions League final press conference, Salah insisted he will be red next season as he was asked about the current situation surrounding his contract.
“In my mind I don’t focus on the contract at the moment,” Salah told reporters Wednesday.
“I do not want to be selfish, I even said it about two months ago.
“It’s the team now, it’s a very important week for us and I’m just focused on the team.
“I want to win the Champions League again and I want to see Hendo get the trophy back in his hands and I hope he gives it to me later!
“I’m just focused on the team, I don’t want to talk about the contract now because we have a lot of time.
“I’m sure I’ll stay next season, that’s clear. I’m staying next season, so see you later. “
These are words that will reassure many for next season, but the hope remains that their contract extension will be fixed in a timely manner.
