The fight over a girl could have caused a teenager to be stabbed to death in Sydney

Police are investigating whether a fight over a girl caused a teenager to be stabbed to death in west Sydney in the early hours of the morning.

The 16-year-old was in a meeting with other youths at a house on Australis Drive, Ropes Crossing, when he was stabbed around 3 a.m. this morning.

When emergency services arrived, police tried to resuscitate the teenager before paramedics arrived, but he died at the scene.

Tickner alleged that the fight could have taken place over a girl.

“Probably young boys with hormones circulating in their system and someone thought they should defend their girlfriend’s right to the scene and that has resulted in the death of a child,” Tickner said.

“First of all, they shouldn’t be carrying knives.”

Tickner added that the stabbing was not believed to be related to the gangs.

Police located a kitchen knife in a nearby drain and are investigating whether it was the weapon used in the stabbing.

Tickner said the teen had “a lifetime ahead of him” and condemned the violence.
