Western Bulldogs Bailey Smith sanctioned two games per header to Zach Tuohy

Western Bulldogs star Bailey Smith has been offered a two-game AFL suspension to head Geelong defender Zach Tuohy.

Key points:

  • Bailey Smith was booked for kicking the ball away after the whistle.
  • Zach Tuohy was also fined for “other misconduct” during the couple’s fight
  • Tuohy downplayed the incident after the match, saying “there wasn’t much”

The dynamic midfielder was cited for a fight with Tuohy three-quarters of a time in the Bulldogs’ 13-point defeat on Friday night.

Smith was immediately denounced by the referees and was formally summoned on Saturday by AFL party review officer Michael Christian.

Christian considered Smith’s header to be intentional, with medium impact and high contact.

“The incident was classified as a two-party sanction as the first offense,” an AFL statement said.

Tuohy has also been cited for “another misconduct” in Smith.

Utility company Geelong has been fined $ 1,000 with an early conviction.

After the pair grabbed the jumpers, Tuohy walked away from the fight with a small cut on his forehead.

Tuohy spoke to Smith after the game, saying there was “all love at the end.”

“Emotions were winning them both,” Tuohy told Fox Footy.

“I think I was pulling and dragging him as much as he was me, so there’s not much.”

Smith, who has never been reported before, has become one of the Bulldogs’ most important players since being selected in 2018.
