A massive coronal mass ejection (CME) was triggered to life on the Sun on June 1 and may soon reach Earth, NASA says. Discover the destruction that this solar storm is capable of.
After a brief period of peace, a dangerous solar storm reconnects to Earth. According to NASA, a coronal mass ejection (CME) was detected rising from the Sun on June 1, and there is a high probability that it could hit Earth on June 5 or June 6. The frequency of solar storm eruptions has grown exponentially in March and April as a particularly notorious sunspot was seen directly on Earth. The resulting solar storms caused power outages in various parts of the Earth and disrupted aircraft and ship navigation systems. It also affected short radio communications. SpaceWeather.com recounted the events of June 1 and said: “A minor coronal mass ejection (CME) that came out of the sun on June 1 will pass close to Earth on June 5, according to the “NoAA analysts may be close enough for a glance. High-latitude sky watchers should be alert for auroras when CME arrives this weekend.”

The solar storm will hit Earth on June 5
According to the NASA classification, this particular solar storm can fall between G1 and G2. The severity scale of solar storms falls between G1 and G5, with G1 being the weakest and G5 the strongest. According to the classification, it seems that this solar storm will not cause us much trouble, but we must remember that a G2 force geomagnetic storm is enough to cause less impact on GPS, navigation systems and radio amateurs. Therefore, depending on which side of the Earth is facing this solar storm, these services may have some drawbacks. At worst, these geomagnetic storms can damage cellular networks, satellites, and even electrical networks.
We must remember that the Sun is still heading towards the solar maximum, which would reach some point in 2023. Until then, solar activity will increase. Although the Earth was lucky not to see any activity last month, there could soon be some strong solar storms.
One of the reasons behind the less frequent solar storms could also be that the Earth is moving towards its aphelion position (point farthest from its orbit of the Sun), which should be in July. However, this does not mean that the Earth will not face the wrath of the Sun if another sunspot appears in its sight. NASA has been closely monitoring the situation along with other agencies such as the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration or NOAA.
