Shakira and her lifelong partner, Gerard Piqué, have separated after 11 years. The “Can’t Remember to Forget You” singer and the footballer issued a joint statement on the matter.
“We regret to confirm that we are separating. We are asking for privacy at this time for the well-being of our children, who are our top priority,” they said on Saturday. “Thank you in advance for your understanding and respect.”
The announcement of the duo came shortly after the Colombian-born star was seen in an ambulance while in Barcelona. Social media users speculated that it was Shakira who needed medical attention, however, the Dancing with Myself judge took to Twitter to clarify that the ambulance was not for her, but for her father.
“Guys, I get a lot of messages of concern that have seen me in an ambulance in Barcelona recently,” he tweeted.
I just wanted to let you know that these photos are from last weekend (the 28th), when unfortunately my father suffered a bad fall and I accompanied him in an ambulance to the hospital where he is now recovering. Please send all your best wishes and thank you all, as always, for your love and support. “
The 45-year-old and her ex-girlfriend met on the set of her music video for “Waka Waka (This Time for Africa)”. They confirmed their relationship in 2011. They never got married. The former couple shares two children Milan, 9, and Sasha, 7.
The former Voice coach often posts photos of her children on social media. The singer shared a sweet photo of her two children kissing her cheeks in honor of Mother’s Day.
“With a kiss they can heal everything and make it worthwhile to keep fighting for them. Happy Mother’s Day!” wrote the mother of two children.
The last time she posted a photo with her former football partner was in February 2022. The singer shared a selfie titled “Happy Valentine’s Day!”
The singer of “She Wolf” also recently released that her song “Hips Don’t Lie” with Wyclef Jean has reached over a billion views on Spotify.
The celebrity posted the success on her Instagram account. “So humiliated. Thank you for all the love,” he wrote.
